3 - The End Is Begun Zdroj: http://www.metalopolis.net/art_reviews.asp?id=3623 Že by se konec opravdu blížil? Zeptejte se Stevea Wilsona, zjevně má dobré informace. Progresivně laděná parta z amerického Woodstocku, která si říká stroze 3, jde ve svých predikcích ještě dál a vyhlašuje, že konec se již započal. Ponechme však stranou vize a věštění, před námi se totiž rozprostírá další rocková vize velice zajímavé hudební party, která minulý rok znatelně zčeřila poklidnou progovou hladinu svým výtečným zářezem „Wake Pig“. Navzdory určité nevyrovnanosti a neukočírované touze vyniknout jinakostí představovala tato nahrávka sebevědomou a originální kapelu, které je dáno dělat silné písně v lahůdkovém provedení... Pokud bylo "Prase" poněkud labilní ve svých divokých instrumentálních vsuvkách, je „The End Is Begun“ monumentem mnohem pevnějšm v základech. Jakoby se Trojce podařilo animální touhu po instrumentální výraznosti lépe inkorporovat do stejně silné touhy dělat chytlavé rockové písně. Materiál působí zatraceně kompaktním a neprůstřelným dojmem a pokud se nenecháte zmýlit úvodním dojmem určité nevýraznosti, nabídne vám jeden z nejlepších posluchačských zážitků posledních progresivních let. Trojka se ještě silněji obrací k rockovým tradicím, k písňovým kořenům žánru i dřevním harmonickým postupům, které ale modernizuje strhujícím provedením a značně neokoukanou strukturou kompozic, které se nesnaží stát na místě, ale odvíjí se, gradují, ztišují, explodují v bouři kytar... Hudba woodstocké pětice naléhá všemi prostředky, zejména stále lepším uplakaným vokálem Joey Epparda, který disponuje v současnosti jedním z nejpozoruhodnějích vysokých hlasů v žánru. Zranitelný, křehký, přesto jistý a prostý otravných manýr. Vokální linky díky provedení ještě získávají na kráse. A že Trojka umí báječně pracovat s melodií, to si můžete snadno ověřit v neskutečně silné „All That Remains“. Náplň aktuální desky se rozhodně posluchači nepodbízí, plyne si ve svém retrospektivním duchu a při pozorném poslechu rozvine posluchači v mysli plátno, na němž se tradice rozpíjí v exkluzivních moderních postupech aniž by ztratila cokoli ze své atmosféry. Pokud prog rock už nějaký ten rok prezentuje spíše totální regres, pak Trojka umí při všech návratech ke kořenům působit svěže, neotřele a současně... Umí si hrát s emocemi posluchače a poslušně podvolit své instrumentální schopnosti obsahu. Ačkoli jsem původně „The End Is Begun“ považoval za slabší svého předchůdce, soustředěný poslech dokonale otočil kormidlem. Nádherná deska! Marigold, Zveřejněno: 3. 8. 2007
